(Image used per the terms specified on US Merchant Marines at War)What a mess. A mess that's still going, prodded on by some people who obviously feel the need to keep it going after almost a week since clarifications were made and hatchets buried. Still, human nature being what it is, what did you expect eh?
It's been six days since I made the error of holding up an uninvited mirror in front of Houston's food scene and since then I have paid a price for it. Most, as a matter of fact almost all, of the criticism I can handle, honest disagreements are part of the game when speaking on any subject. I want to make it clear that I have no ill-feelings toward people who quite simply chose to disagree with me in a strident, though un-hostile, manner. If we all agreed on every issue this would be a fairly boring pebble.
The anonymous comments that I've had to delete, as well as some things said in private that have gotten back to me, have all led me to this point. The point that I've Got the Munchies is shuttering. For good.
Not that I'm stopping blogging. As a matter of fact, my blogging activity has never been more active than it is today. I'm even going to continue to write on the matter of food and drink, except that my next venture will consider the geographic area inside the Beltway 8 to be a DMZ, populated and controlled by the FoodBorg. Possessing a healthy fear of being assimilated, I'm not going anywhere near that.
If you link to IGM you might want to consider removing it from your blog-links and adding something else. Basically this blog is going to serve as an archive due to the fact that I've got a lot of information on here about Texas wines, and some information on the far Northwest side, that I want to keep.
Because I believe in fairness, I'm going to briefly open up comments, leave them unmoderated and let you have your worst. To those three anonymous Internet jockeys who thought it was tough to bluster about...Now's your chance to hit me again. The only thing I'll delete are obvious SPAM postings from you stupid people who think you're being coy with the "I've been reading your blog for a long time" posts. Worst. SPAM. Ever.
So, that's it. After all is said and done I guess there's only one thing left to say.
I no longer have the munchies.
Slainte!
